Showroom Classification:

Background:
It's not certain when the Mini Lop made its first appearance in Germany as the "Kleine Widder." Credit for introducing the breed to this country is generally accredited to Bob Herschbach, of California who was attracted to them at a show in Essen, Germany in 1972.
Mr. Herschbach exhibited two of them at the 1974 ARBA Convention in Ventura, California; strangely, they did not attract too much attention at the time. After the Ventura convention the name was Americanized to Mini Lop, and Mr. Herb Dyke took over the task of popularizing the breed. Through the tireless efforts of Mr. Dyke, and other breeders, the Mini Lop was accepted by the ARBA in 1980 as a new breed. New colors were originated in the U.S. (the originals were two Agoutis and a White) from crosses of Broken color French Lops and Standard Chinchillas.

General Description:
The general aspect of the Mini Lop is that of a massive, thick-set body with good depth and width from the shoulders through well filled, slightly heavier hindquarters. The head markings on Broken should consist of color around the nose and eyes and with colored ears. Body color on Broken may be either patched or blanket markings.
